Sunday we went to see "Walking With Dinosaurs" at the Honda Center. We had the (not really) cheap seats way up near the top, but the dinosaurs are so big that it doesn't matter. Armilyn and I first learned about this show from the making-of PBS special they keep airing. It looked so cool. Each dinosaur is basically a puppet, with 1 or 2 people inside operating the dinosaur. They did an amazing job of making the dinosaurs look life-like. The only thing that keeps it from looking absolutely real is that each large dinosaur has a rolling "sled" underneath to help keep it stabilized.
We opted not to pay an arm and a leg for souvenirs and instead got Alex a $5 set of mini dinosaurs later at Target. He was totally fine with it!
We have had a busy August, which hasn't left much time for blogging. The main thing going on is preparations for Armilyn's cousin, Justine and her wedding to Fernando on August 23. Here is a sneak peek from the engagement party
Earlier in the month, Armilyn took her niece, Leila, and Alex to the FV Library Park
Armilyn's other niece, Jasmine, celebrated her 2nd birthday
and we went to Tante Ellen's surprise birthday party at Waters Restaurant, where Alex caught up with his favorite Uncle Robert and favorite Aunt Denise or "Auntie Neece" as Alex says it.
Despite all the activities, we still took time to stop and smell the flowers
and there's more this weekend. Justine's wedding on Saturday and Walking With Dinosaurs on Sunday:
So I came across this blog on my lunch break. Ten guys, who happen to all be photographers, take a summer road trip up the California coast from Ventura to San Francisco. They have no particular set schedule, and actually let their blog readers vote on what activity they should do the next day. These guys look fun. Check out the Mammoth Men blog and also each guys own website. There's some great photographers in that group

I downloaded a free episode of the new series "Architecture School" from the Sundance Channel. It follows a class of architecture students at Tulane University as they design and build a home in a recovering area of New Orleans. It was a very interesting episode. I'll have to ask Mom to record the rest of the series since we don't get the Sundance Channel.
I am not a sports guy, but the few times I do get into it is during the Olympics. 2 weeks every 4 years is enough of a sports fix for me. I recently came across some beautiful photos taken from the opening ceremonies that were posted here.
I think this is my favorite, as I love the architecture of both buildings.
Though this one, while I think it's staged, is a close second:
The Dutch word “nix” literally means “nothing” in English. Nix also happens to be our last name. So something from us would kind of be like...oh never mind.
