Second in the Seattle Series
On our 2005 trip to Seattle, we visited the Experience Music Project or EMP. Funded by Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, this place is primarily a museum but also a small live concert venue. The architect for the building was Frank Gehry, of Guggenheim BIlbao and Walt Disney Concert Hall fame. I love how he wrapped the building in similar metal as Guggenheim and Disney, but gave parts of it an irridescent effect that really makes it stand out in the cloudy Seattle weather.
I don't have pictures of the interior, but Frank Gehry likes to use a lot of plywood. Some of the plywood was also shaped in similar curves.
We want to take Alex there, as they have a section where you can play rock instruments, and even pretend to be a DJ with a turntable that you can scratch on.
